A white (symbolizing purity) robe that a traditionally observant man can wear at Yom Kippur services, the Passover seder as a symbol of freedom, as a groom during the wedding ceremony and eventually to his own burial. A cantor will wear a kittel on Rosh Hashanah, Hoshanah Rabbah, and Shemini Atzeret - all days on which we seek forgiveness.
